In Colorado, probate matters concern the administration and settlement of decedents' estates, the use and enforcement of certain trusts, and the appointment and supervision of guardians and conservators for minors and adults. District court judges in all counties except Denver hear probate cases. Denver has a separate probate court and probate judge established by constitutional amendment in 1962. In addition to probate matters, The Denver Probate Court also handles involuntary mental health certifications, alcohol/drug commitments and related matters.
