CAREER Cheryl L. Stevens has served as Clerk of the Colorado Supreme Court since June 1, 2017. Ms. Stevens has held several positions for the Colorado Judicial Branch beginning as a judicial assistant to Chief Justice Mary J. Mullarkey in 2001. Since the Honorable Mary J. Mullarkey's retirement in 2010, Ms. Stevens has served as the nominating commission liaison/deputy clerk, and as the chief deputy clerk from 2013-2017. Prior to employment with the Colorado Judicial Branch, Ms. Stevens was employed for thirteen years as the office manager at a small law firm in Denver. She graduated, magna cum laude, in 2006 from the Metropolitan State College of Denver and holds a bachelor's degree in management. RESPONSIBILITIES The Clerk of the Supreme Court plans, organizes and supervises the administration of the Supreme Court Clerk's office and other administrative staff for the Supreme Court. The clerk monitors the case flow of matters pending before the court, together with screening cases for jurisdictional problems and identifying routine and complex cases to ensure the efficient use of resources. Develops and implements policies and procedures of operation. The clerk also administers the court's statistical information and personnel matters and acts as a liaison between the court and major boards and committees of the Supreme Court. |
