Welcome to the next member of the Colorado Supreme Court: the Hon. William W. Hood III, a judge in the Second Judicial District (Denver County). Judge Hood, who will be sworn in in January 2014, will replace Chief Justice Michael L. Bender, who is retiring after serving on the Supreme Court since 1997 and as chief since 2010. Gov. John Hickenlooper announced his appointment on Friday, October 25, 2013, saying Judge Hood’s fairness, broad legal experience and reputation for collaboration “will make him an effective member of the Colorado Supreme Court.” Judge Hood was appointed to the 2nd Judicial District bench in 2007 after working in private practice at Isaacson Rosenbaum P.C., and serving in the Office of the District Attorney for the 18th Judicial District (Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties).
